Yuki Assistant
Building a scalable and intuitive mobile solution for on-the-go accounting
Yuki Software | Rotterdam 2019 - 2021
Context
Yuki is an accounting platform that helps business owners and financial professionals stay on top of their finances. Powered by automation, it simplifies bookkeeping, reporting, and tax management. The Yuki Assistant app extended this experience to mobile, giving users a way to manage their accounting tasks on the go.
Business challenge
The app needed a redesign that went beyond a visual update. It had to bring the interface up to modern standards while improving scalability, usability, and consistency with the desktop platform. The goal was to create a mobile experience that made complex financial tasks feel simple, fast, and accessible from anywhere, all built on the same design foundations as the desktop system.
Business challenge
The existing Yuki app had strong functionality but felt dated and inconsistent. It needed a redesign that went beyond a visual refresh, bringing the interface up to modern standards while improving scalability, usability, and consistency with the desktop platform. The goal was to make the mobile experience as clear, fast, and reliable as the tools professionals used at their desks.

An inventory of existing screens and interface elements from the original Yuki app. This audit helped reveal inconsistencies in layout, styling, and interaction patterns across features and guided the redesign toward a more unified experience.
My role
I worked on the UI with a focus on usability, scalability, and alignment with Yuki’s new design system. I designed mobile components, visuals, and custom icons, and collaborated with the design team to expand UI elements and refine flows so financial data and navigation felt effortless on smaller screens.
Bringing it to life
The redesign turned the Yuki Assistant into a modern, clear, and enjoyable mobile experience. Financial overviews became easier to read, tasks faster to complete, and actions simpler to take while keeping Yuki’s colorful personality intact.
Built on the same foundations as the desktop platform, the app now feels unified and easy to maintain. The next section highlights how the new components and UI details brought clarity and flow to everyday accounting on the go.
Reflection
This project was all about finding balance between complexity and clarity. Translating full financial tables into clean mobile lists, simplifying graphs without losing meaning, and designing interactions that stayed fast and intuitive took a lot of iteration and close teamwork.
It was also a time of real growth for me. Working across desktop and mobile taught me how to keep consistency at scale while letting each platform play to its strengths. I learned to trust my eye for detail and my sense of structure, and to appreciate how good collaboration can turn even the most complex product into something people actually enjoy using.
